Nerdy Thirty!

That's right I'm naming this post Nerdy Thirty because I'm the Big 3-0 today!
And it's not that big of deal, nope, no breakdown for me...not yet anyway
I'm happy because I have many things to be happy about and look forward to,
This is 30 reasons why it's a great day/year for me.....

1-I am not going to even think about school work today
2-My hubby is taking me to dinner at my favorite restaurant
3-All of my family is healthy
4-This week we will be get our tax returns back'...YAHOO!
5-I'm going to eat a delicious ice cream cake tonight!
6-My family and friends are the best....seriously, I could not have better ones.....
7-I have two awesome children that surprise and make me happy everyday
8-I have a wonderful husband that I do not know what I would do without, he works so hard for us and is so thoughtful and considerate of me in every way :)
9-I am getting close to getting my teaching degree and am excited to be able to teach children.
10-I have friends that get my weird sense of humor and laugh at my randomness
11-I live in a place where my kids can play outside and I can walk down the street and not worry about getting mugged..
12-I have the gospel in my life that keeps me on the right track, and reminds me of what is important!
13-Although I have a wrinkle starting, showing my age, I like to think it's from smiling.
14-I am very much looking forward to going to Alabama and visiting our other half of the family. They are so great to us.
15-I have constant reminders everyday of why i am blessed.
16-We are going to buy a camper and go camping this summer. It's been so long since I've been camping and I can't wait to spend time with my family in nature.
17-I feel loved because it's only 9:30 in the morning and I've already had many birthday wishes!
18-I can buy chocolate anytime of the day or night:)
19-I have many good memories with family and friends that make me smile when I am having a hard day.
20-The snow is almost melted already, and although it's cold, I can see green grass outside! Spring is near!
21-This may sound dumb, but I love that I can't keep in contact with so many people because of technology.
22-I'm so happy I can stay home with my children and watch them grow everyday.
23-My children are constant reminders that life is beautiful and will continue to be that way.
24-My family and friends support all my ideas and dreams.
25-Grateful for some hard experiences I've had so I can understand what others are dealing with.
26-I'm happy because I got two pair of tall awesome boots for my birthday! Love 'em!!
27-I'm looking forward to growing a garden this year.
28-I am hoping sometime in the next 10 years to take a cruise with my hubby.
29-I am looking forward to teaching in the next few years.
30-I am looking forward to all the adventures with my friends and family in the future.

So that's it, I'm 30, there is no going or looking back....Just forward...I just hope 40 takes it's sweet time:)

I'm Thankful

Although it has been a while since I posted, I'd like to say that I have learned more gratitude in the past few months than anything. There haven't been any big happenings in my life, just small simple blessings that have a lot of meaning to me. I have been unsettled about some things and this has made me get to my knees and ask for help. This help has come in sweet feelings of peace and love. I have learned that there is a lot of joy in this life if we just are patient and kind to others. We don't get anywhere by being competitive, ungrateful, unsettled or envious. So my challenge is just to remember these impressions I've had and not try to rush to find "happiness" but rather feel the joy that I already have, but sometimes overlook. The joy that I have in my children and my husband. The blessings I have of having a roof over my head and food to eat. The joy I have of being free and pretty much being able to say and do as I please. Life is good. If we take the time to enjoy it and free out minds of envy, and apprehension, then there will be room for beauty and meaning to come in to our lives.

Jill of all trades...

Am I the only one out there who is a "Jack or Jill of all trades"? It seems like everyone I know has something they are really good at! I was trying to think of that one thing that is my passion and I decided it's MANY things, and I decided that's not such a bad thing!!! I've been working on card making, scrapbooking and sewing lately!Here's a picture of the card I made today!

2010....So Far So Good!

So this year has been a good, but busy one so far! In January we moved out to Smithfield, UT, which we are LOVING so far. The people are so nice and the neighborhoods are so quiet! And we got in to a bigger house! We got here and about a month later, along came our second baby Brooklyn Sue! We are absolutely in love with her. She was 7 lbs. 2 oz. Born on February 26, 2010. One boy, one girl! We feel so blessed! Also while all this was going on I finished a semester at WGU (I'm working on a teaching certificate). In about two years I should have it completed. It been a little crazy! Also April 24-May 1 Jonahs Sister Hannah Scurlock and her husband Randy and kids came to visit us. We had a lot of fun with them. I will post pictures of all these events soon!

Christmas 2009

We had a great time this Christmas. We stayed here in Logan and opened presents Christmas morning,then traveled to Wyoming to be with my family for a few days. Jeremiah loved all his new toys, and so did we!! Jonah's brother Brandon spent the holidays with us. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and can keep the spirit of Christmas all year long!!

Inspiring Preparedness Seminar

Some of the things I learned from the presentation that I want to share are:

Some Suggested Pandemic Supplies:(this seems like a lot but it's better to be overprepared than underprepared!
Some Suggested Pandemic Supplies
• 1 gallon of liquid bleach per person of the household (yes that is gallons) - to sanitize
everything
• 4 boxes of latex gloves (different sizes for every member of the household)
• 2 boxes of 20 of N95 masks for every member of the household
• antibacterial soap- for meticulous hand washing
• styrofoam "Take Out" containers - to give to people that come to your door looking for food
• 100' roll of clear 4 mil plastic - for setting up an isolation room
• 10 rolls duct tape - for setting up an isolation room
• more HEPA filters - for my whole room air filtration system
• several boxes of Borax - for provisional toilets
• 25 lbs. of lime per person - for provisional toilets
• 50 "yard waste" black garbage bags per person - for provisional toilets and garbage
• 100 "kitchen" bags per person - for provisional toilets and garbage
• 25 lbs. of kitty litter per person - for sick people's body fluids clean up
• 100 rolls of toilet paper per person - for personal sanitation
• 20 rolls of paper towels per person
• several boxes of straws - for sick people so you don’t contaminate drinking cups too much
• clothesline - for washing clothes by hand
• laundry soap - for washing clothes by hand
• good dish soap like "Dawn" or other aggressive anti-grease formula
• water filtration and purification devices
• water collection, storage and carrying containers
• water, water, and more water
• portable radio (hand-cranked or battery powered)
• walkie talkies (hand-held, two-way GMRS radios)
• batteries

It's A Girl!!

October 22 we found out we are having a baby girl!! We are very excited about it!!

Fall

Looks like my posting has come down to once a month! I want to do it more, just find myself doing other things! We have been able to do some fun things this fall. My brother Zane came home from his mission Oct 6th. He was serving in Mesa, AZ. He is doing well. We were able to go to my neices and nephews birthday parties in Wyoming. And my sister Amy and her family came down here a couple weeks ago and went to a corn maze and pumpkin patch with us. It was alot of fun!

Soap Making

We made Goats milk soap from scratch today. It was kind of tedious, but turned out good (well actually well see in 24 hours if it sets up.

We took a quick (5 day) trip to Alabama to see Jonahs family last week! It was a lot of fun. Jeremiah
loved playing with his cousins Lacy and Brody! We went to the Botanical Gardens, out to eat, and just hung out with his family. It was fun.

It's been forever!!

Wow, everyone hope you haven't given up on me blogging!! Things have been more than crazy the past few months! We moved to Providence, UT for Jonah to go to school. It's been an adjustment but overall good. First of all just let me tell you jobs aren't fun to find in a college town, but we found some that will work for us for the time being!! Jonah started out in Machining program and didn't like it now he's in the Meat Cutting, and Loves IT. I'm glad he found soemthing he likes. Me and Jeremiah stay home most of the time. We try to go to our pool and go for walks when it's not too hot outside! I work at TJ Maxx part time and that's pretty good. I've met some cool people there. And our other news is we just found out were going to have another BABY about mid March 2010. I am very excited but am NOT enjoying the being sick!! Well that is our life in a nutshell. We love our families and are grateful for all the blessings we have!!!

Our New Place

Just wanted to update everyone on our lives. We have been in Providence, UT for just over a week now. It's been crazy adjusting to a new place and trying to get situated. Jonah started school today. Jeremiah and I like to go outside, or to the park, or go shopping. We like our apartment. It's pretty roomy and we can't wait for the pool to open up. I'll post some more pictures soon!! Ta ta!

We are Moving!

As some of you know and some of you don't, we are moving to Logan the first of May. Jonah is going to be going to Bridgerland for a year. We are excited. We found an apartment we really like in Providence. Here are some pics of it!I'm excited about the pool. We will miss living by my family but hope to see them often!

Hawaii Was Awesome!!

Hawaii was as wonderful as I imagined. We stayed in Laie, near the temple and Polynesian Cultural Center. We traveled around most of teh island. We went to the North Shore Beach, visited the Dole Plantation, saw the show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We also visited Waikiki Beach, hiked to Diamond Head Crater, went to Hawaii Adventures Water Park, the Hawaii Aquarium, and still had plenty of time to visit the beach, even though it was cloudy a lot of the time. We also took a fun boat ride where we saw tropical fish and turtle and the reef. That was alot of fun. Overall Hawaii was wonderful and will be a very memorable experience for us!!!

Our New Nephew!

Brody William was born today. Hannah and Randy Scurlock (Jonahs sister) are the proud parents. He was 10 lbs 10 oz. We are so excited to have him in our family!
